Bailey absent in Egypt but it's the same for Duffield's Premier rivals
Tuesday, December 02, 2008, 07:30
It is the meeting of the group's top two, with Duffield away to league newcomers Chapel Allerton, the Leeds-based side who have made such a promising start to life in the PSL.
Bailey, who was out of the Duffield side for over a year with a knee injury before coming back to beat Madeline Perry in the victory over Oxford on November 11, misses the trip because she is in Egypt for the World Team Championships.
However, the same competition also means that Chapel Allerton will be without their top woman player, England number one Jenny Duncalf.
Duffield will be led by Nick Matthew, winner of all three of his matches for them this season, despite an illness scare.
The 28-year-old contracted laryngitis playing in Hong Kong two weeks ago and though he went out in the quarter-finals of the Macau Open to Pakistani qualifier Aamir Atlas Khan, it at least signalled his return to health.
Laura Hill comes in for Bailey and should be too strong for young student Jenna Gates.
The rest of the Duffield line-up is the same as for their win against Oxford, which means manager Felix Frixou keeps faith with Andy Whipp, despite defeats in all three of his matches so far this season.
Chapel Allerton do not have the star names but have a solid side, with two Englishmen – Alister Walker and Jon Harford – and two Australians – Aaron Frankcomb and Scott Arnold.
Chapel Allerton v Duffield line up (home player first): Alister Walker v Nick Matthew, Aaron Frankcomb v Joey Barrington, Scott Arnold v Andy Whipp, Jon Harford v Joel Hinds, Jenna Gates v Laura Hill.
